Memorandum of Understanding between ASGBI, BACA and IAS

Collaboration between ASGBI, BACA and IAS

On February 27th 2009, I attended a meeting at King's College London with Dr Louise Scheuer, President of the British Association of Clinical Anatomists (BACA), and Mr Steve Gaze, Chairman of the Institute of Anatomical Sciences (IAS). We met to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the three societies. This document is a formal expression of our intention to work in equal ‘partnership’ on issues that jointly affect our societies. l believe that it will enable the Anatomy sector in the UK to have a stronger voice than has been the case in recent years. As evidence of our increased collaborative working, Louise Scheuer, Steve Gaze and I also signed a joint response to the HTA’s proposed increase in licence fees and finalised Guidelines on Professional Practices for the Anatomy sector which have been written by a group drawn from ASGBI, BACA and IAS (these Guidelines will shortly be uploaded to our respective websites).
